Making music is good for the brain.
Over the last decade, a series of new scientific studies have demonstrated
a link between active music making-not just passive listening, but
actually taking part-and increased brainpower. Young kids who make
music show improved spatial-temporal reasoning, which is the foundation
of later success in math and science. And they actually get better
grades than kids who don't take music. Click here to learn more.
Did you know students with coursework/experience in music performance
and music appreciation score higher on the SAT. In a study, students
in music performance scored 57 points higher on the verbal and 41
points higher on the math, and students in music appreciation scored
63 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher on the math, than
did students with no arts participation.
